Chalmers has been active in research related to fluidization and fluidized bed conversion technologies for almost four decades. Our main infrastructure, the Chalmers 12 MW CFB research boiler, is located centrally on-campus and has been used for extensive research around all aspects of fluidized bed combustion. It is also connected to our 2-4 MW indirect biomass gasifier, which is utilized for production of methane and syngas with different fuel feedstocks.
In connection to this, there is an extensive fluidization and chemical-looping (CLC) laboratory where a range of cold-flow and pilot units are available for investigation of new conversion technologies necessary to meet climate targets.
During the conference, lab tours will be offered to those interest to visit these facilities. In addition to this, there will be also offered a field trip to a state-of-the-art CHP-BFB recently erected near Gothenburg.
